Work experience
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer Work
Experience?
Yes. We offer a 5 day work experience placement for pupils
aged 14+ yrs at the New Theatre or St David's Hall.
Placements are offered following completion of an application form
that can be downloaded and a practical workshop. The closing
date for Summer 2012 applications is 10 March 2012. We
will be unable to consider applications received after
this date.
Unfortunately we are no longer able to offer work experience
during the month of July. July has become an increasingly
busy for all departments, with a higher level of commitments to
events and performances. This puts a greater demand on staffing and
resources meaning that they unable to devote the time needed to
make a placement a worthwhile experience.
Download an application form (opens in a
new browser window) or call us for more information.
How many Work Experience pupils can you
take?
We can accommodate up to 6 a term (1
at a time in each venue). The deadline for applications will
be posted on the website. Any applications received after
this deadline will not be considered.
How far in advance do I need to
apply?
The earlier, the better. The
deadline and workshop will always be a term in advance, so anyone
who is unsuccessful will still have time to find an alternative
placement.
Do you offer Work Placement opportunities
for students / graduates?
Occasionally it is possible to
arrange a specific placement. If you would like to be
considered for a placement, send a covering note and your c.v to artsactive@cardiff.gov.uk.
Make sure to include the type of placement you would like and the
dates you would be available.
Can I have a placement with your costume
and make up department?
No - as we do not have one.
The New Theatre and St David's Hall are both receiving venues,
meaning productions come with their own staff. It may be
possible if you are able to contact the production company
directly.
